Mission Statement
The mission of the Facilities Design and Construction Department is to provide the faculty, students and staff of the Florida State University the best possible environment for their teaching, research, public service, and support activities while preserving for future generations landmarks important to the University's traditions and heritage. We do this by planning and managing the design, construction, demolition, remodeling, and renovation of facilities.
Function, Duties and Values
Collectively, our sections support all academic, administrative, and auxiliary divisions on campus. We manage the design and construction activities, including budgets and schedules, on all state and privately funded projects. We advise user groups, prepare cost estimates and design documents, manage construction on minor projects, and assist Maintenance in project management and quality control in the field.
We are sensitive to the irreplaceable nature of landmarks and other historic physical attributes of the campus and serve as advocates for their protection and restoration so that present and future generations may fully enjoy the rich heritage of the University.
We take great pride in fulfilling our role as a support organization of a great university and as a member of the Finance and Administration Division, and strive to provide our services at all times with professionalism and enthusiasm.
