The purpose of the Campus Development and Space Committee is to assist the President with the orderly development of the physical components of the University and the assignment of space under the University's control. The overall objective is the establishment and maintenance of an environment that facilitates the accomplishment of the University's mission.
The Campus Development and Space Committee has responsibility for making recommendations to the President regarding the following campus development issues:
- The campus master plan;
- Procedures for all construction and major renovation programs on campus;
- Fixed capital outlay priorities for the University and policy under which this budget is to be administered;
- Appointments of facility program committees and all facilities programs;
- Any modification or addition to site, physical plant or landscaping on campus;
- All transactions concerning the purchase, sale or trade or real property, including all land, buildings and improvements.
Regarding campus space, the Committee:
- Has jurisdiction over all real property assigned to the University by any entity, including all land, buildings, and other improvements;
- Develops and approves space assignment policies and procedures for the University;
- Recommends to the appropriate vice president(s) and the president any change in the use of space within existing buildings;
- Recommends to the appropriate vice president(s) and the president the assignment of all space within new buildings or buildings that have been vacant and are being reoccupied;
- Recommends to the appropriate vice president(s) and the president renovations or changes in the physical characteristics of buildings or rooms within buildings or rooms within buildings if these changes relate to the previous conditions;
- Delegates to the vice president for academic affairs and the University registrar specific authority to assign academic classroom space;
- Recommends to the appropriate vice president(s) and the president the leasing to non-University occupants of any real property assigned to the University, including land, buildings and other improvements;
- Recommends to the appropriate vice president(s) and the president the leasing by the University of any non-University real property, including land, buildings and other improvements;
- Recommends to the appropriate vice president(s) and the president use of any space owned by the University's direct support organizations;
- Recommends to the president the naming of campus buildings, facilities, rooms and other campus spaces.
