Construction Manager Selection

Aeropropulsion Mechatronics and Energy Building, FS-274C

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project consists of construction of a world class research building to house the activities and equipment essential for programs performing research in aeropropulsion, robotics and sustainable energy sources. Construction of approximately 60,000 gross square feet is anticipated and will include research labs with both industrial and technological capabilities, offices and support spaces. Project location will be at Innovation Park proximate to the Florida State University Southwest Campus in Tallahassee, Florida. Design should be complete Fall 2009, and construction should start January 2010.

PROJECT BUDGET
The project budget is $22,000,000, and the construction budget is $18,600,00.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Firms will be evaluated in the following areas: experience and ability, including successful completion of related projects, past experience, past performance, bonding capacity, preconstruction services experience including value engineering and detailed estimating, construction, construction services experience including record keeping/administrative ability, critical path scheduling expertise, cost control ability, quality control capability, qualifications of the firms personnel, staff and consultants. The firm should demonstrate experience in the following areas: construction of research labs, especially those with wind tunnel technology, fume hood installations and environmental controls; construction of labs requiring state of the art computer technology; construction of clean rooms; and, construction of spaces employing industrial equipment.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. All applicants will be notified of the results of the short listing in writing. Finalists will be informed of the interview date and time and will be provided with additional project information.

2. The Selection Committee will make a recommendation to the university president. All finalists will be notified in writing of the president’s action. Upon approval by the president, negotiations will be conducted in accordance with Section 287.055, Florida Statutes.
